Gynecologist – MD, FRCSC
Dr. Denise Black was born and raised in Northern Manitoba. She completed medical school at the University of Manitoba, followed by a 5 years specialty training program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Manitoba. She received her fellowship from the Royal College in 1994.
Now entering her 25th year of practice, she has worked both in the University system and private practice. She worked out of both St. Boniface Hospital and Women’s Hospital and has served as director for the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training program. She has been an examiner for the Royal College as well.
In 2011, she moved to a community-based practice. Special areas of expertise include menopause management, treatment, and prevention of HPV disease, contraception, and non-surgical management of heavy menstrual bleeding.
She is currently involved in national and international education programs in women’s health, with the goal of helping practicing physicians achieve excellence in the quality of women’s health care services they provide.
Dr. Black enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time outdoors around bodies of water. She is a proud grandmother to Elliot, who is the smartest young man ever.
